Renewable energy holds the most promise for humankind. In a world that constantly thirst for energy, renewable sources such as the solar, wind, hydro, wave, and tidal power look more attractive as global warming intensifies and oil supplies are nearing depletion. But curiously, not enough attention and investments went into these fuel types.

Even their share of total energy production is minimal. For example, the U.S. gets only 1% of its total requirements from wind power. This is ironic since wind is available domestically and is not subject to political supply disruptions. Some scientists have calculated total energy that can be derived from wind power alone will be able to supply total global energy requirements more than 4 to 6 times over, at 75 terrawatts! Cheap and abundant oil has made the world overly-dependent on oil but if everybody can increase fuel efficiency even by 50% alone, it is the equivalent of finding a new Saudi Arabia!
